What is Expand TD?
Expand TD is a single-player tower defense roguelite in which the map expands between enemy waves. Explore new territory, discover events and resources, build defenses, and adapt to new threats with each run.
When is Expand TD coming to Steam?
The planned PC (Windows) release is in 2027. No specific release date has been announced. You can wishlist Expand TD on Steam now.
Can I play Expand TD for free?
Yes. A free development build is playable directly in your browser on itch.io, with a Windows download also available. You can also request access to the Steam Playtest.
How does the expanding map work?
Between waves, you can discover and expand into procedurally generated territory. New areas may reveal extra space, resources, useful locations, events, hidden rewards or threats. Those discoveries change how you plan your defense.
Does Expand TD have permanent upgrades?
Yes. Earn Technology Points and use them to unlock new defenses and permanent upgrades that carry into future attempts.
Is Expand TD like Bloons TD 6 or Rogue Tower?
Expand TD shares the tactical tower placement and wave-defense appeal of games such as Bloons TD 6 and Kingdom Rush, and the replayable runs of games such as Rogue Tower and Tower Dominion. Its defining twist is that the battlefield expands between waves rather than remaining fixed.
Does Expand TD have multiplayer?
Expand TD is currently listed as a single-player game on Steam.
Will there be different biomes and Endless Mode?
The full game is planned to feature chapter-specific versions of grass, desert and winter terrain across Earth, Mars, a war-torn world and an AI city, plus Endless Mode. The free development build may differ from the final release.
